Kansas City Little Theater Wedding
Katie + Dustin’s Kansas City Little Theater Wedding:
Katie+ Dustin live, work and met in Kansas City. So when it came to celebrating their becoming husband+wife, they wanted to keep it local. Getting ready at The Marriott across from the Little Theater, having pictures in the adjoining Barney Allis Plaza and using almost exclusively local vendors, it had all the Kansas City feels. (Not to mention a cameo appearance by a local KC dance troop!)
Katie shares, In our first year or so of dating, we went to a function at The Little Theatre. We really loved the space and the location. It was so close to hotels and the lively downtown Power and Light district. Dustin and I wanted a community feel for our wedding. We wanted to go from ceremony to reception easily so that we didn’t lose momentum and allow our guests to have the convenience of everything being close. Not wanting to slow down the fun, we opted for tapas styled finger foods and array of BBQ sliders.
Dustin+Katie share their favorite moments:
Dustin and I listed about a billion moments throughout the day and had some difficulty picking just one. (Haha tragic right?!?) We brought it down to two. When we were taking pictures, just the two of us under the marquee. It was so nice to have a moment to reflect on the day. Then looking up, we saw our wedding party smiling and cheering us on in the distance. Also, the signing our wedding license. Our friend and officiant C.R., my matron of honor, the best man and Dustin and I got to share this special moment together.
What we love most about Katie is her seemingly effortless concern for others. Even on her wedding day she proved to be selfless. Katie you are priceless!
Katie + her girls designed these gorgeous drop earrings together at Kendra Scott the day before her wedding. Nice job girls!
Some bride admiration + impromptu performance from RPCA dance studio.
Paper flowers by Eco Flowers for that perfect art-deco vibe.
How cute is Dustin? We love what a great sport he is!
Our ceremony focused on how imperfectly perfect Dustin and I are for each other. It also captured love and community and how important all of our friends and family are.
C.R. preformed our ceremony who is like Dustin’s second father and has become really close to us during the past few months.
We are gushing over these Great Gatsby vibes!!!
Cutest ceremony quote: “We’re all a little weird, and life’s little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.” -Dr. Seuss
Local brew from our favorite Roasterie Coffee .
So much deliciousness from Aramark.
Shoe game anyone?
Any advice for couples in the planning process of their wedding?
Do what you and your partner want. We got some heat for things like not having our ceremony in a church, being late in the day, and no sit down dinner. But we made a wedding that was perfect for us. Also, when we would get stressed or overwhelmed, we would take a beat and have a moment with just the two of us and reiterate why we were doing this; it was because we love each other.
A special thanks to awesome KC vendors that helped make this wedding absolutely fabulous!
